Cruise Industry briefing
Join Cruise Belfast on Tuesday 15th June at 3pm for a virtual briefing session on preparations being made for the safe return of cruise tourism to Belfast and Northern Ireland for the 2021 season.
Over the last seven months, Belfast Harbour and Visit Belfast have been working closely with the Public Health Agency, Port Health Authority, Maritime Policing Team and Belfast City Council Emergency Preparedness Group to put in place measures to ensure appropriate protocols are in place to support the safe return of cruise tourism to Belfast and Northern Ireland for the summer season 2021. With these in place, the first cruise ships will return to Belfast later this month.
In providing as safe an environment as possible for cruise guests, crew, local staff and the wider local population, this season will operate very differently to previous years. Initially cruise guests will only go ashore on organised and risk assessed shore excursions. Therefore cruise guests will not depart the ship independently as in previous years. In this briefing session we will provide more detail on how this will operate as well as the following key changes:
• The pivot to staycation cruises
• Cruise ship and dockside operations
• Bubble shore excursions
• 2022 cruise season and beyond
The briefing will last approximately 30 minutes, with time for questions.
